The Healthy Food App Everyone is Talking About!
Hands down, I’m obsessed with this app! This has to be the best place to find recipes that are so easy to prepare. I mean, when you’re just trying to get ideas, this app provides the simplest meal plans. What is unique is the meal prepping. It’s an app that has taught me the art of making a good salad.
I don’t like to follow recipe books and if you’ve read my book, you know that I struggle because I don’t like to follow any. I’ll apply some recipes from the FOK app the same way I would follow a diet regimen (yawn) but not because I’m looking for a nice recipe but for ideas.
Well, not anymore.
Here are the reasons why the Mealime app has become so convenient and the first go-to app I’ve ever used for recipes.
You can customize the recipes. For example, all mine are either gluten-free, plant-based, or vegetarian. I’m not 100% plant-based but even the way they incorporate meat dishes, there are healthy options for anyone to follow.
The recipes are simple. Most take few ingredients. Great meals are kept simple - it’s a principle that the best chefs take into consideration. When you cook fish, if it’s fresh, all you need is lemon and herbs. Sure, there are more complex recipes but this app sticks with recipes that have that sort of simplicity for a lovely Tuesday night dinner with a glass of white wine. So simple, I typically add more ingredients to my liking.
The app is super easy to follow. From touchless features so you’re not having to touch your phone with sticky hands to a grocery feature that a friend just told me about (after I had suggested the darn app to her). When you prepare your meals for the week, all the ingredients go into a grocery list where you can go back and delete any ingredients you don’t need and instantly have your list ready to go. It’s a great way to only buy what you need.
The recipes are flexible. With what you already have in your fridge to what you need at the grocery store, don’t worry. If you can’t find the sugar snap peas at the grocery store, you can click the item right into the app (on your grocery list) and it will tell you what you can substitute. Plus, you can add things like garlic, vegetables and spices to the recipe to spruce it up or just stick with the recipe to make a quick dinner. However way you like it.
You can customize the app. From choosing to what diet restrictions you have to creating a list of favorite recipes to come back to. The genius way this app works is how it really becomes customizable to how you cook and what you make.
It’s FREE! Well, sort of. There are some recipes you can unlock and even though you’ll have to upgrade for more recipes, you can get away with not having to. Now that’s customer centric!
Plan all your meals for the week! You can create meal plans, create a grocery list and organize all your recipes all in one place. I love that. It makes shopping for dinner so easy. It also gives you the option to customize your shopping list by quantity. This is the only app I’ve needed to plan my meals, not to mention it’s great not having to fret over what I’m going to make for dinner too.
This app is really teaching me how to cook! I’ve learned the 3 main ingredients for a great salad dressing, how to better prep my foods while I’m cooking, and buy only what I need. There’s no more waste.
