Impact of Online Reviews

Don’t let the opportunities slip away during the COVID season.

“We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.”
– Bill Gates

I’m finding that a lot of small businesses (and even franchises) leave it up to their marketing agencies to handle their online marketing but still have 1-2 star ratings on Google: the biggest collection of reviews where consumers go to find out about your business.

Managing your reviews with what people say about your company doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Nor does your business have to be in crisis mode to get you to pay attention to the damaging effects of a bad rap. Managing and taking control of what people say about your business online should be as crucial to your business as being claimed on Yelp.

Your business doesn’t have to pay thousands of dollars a month on SEO either to make sure you are high in the rankings as far as exposure goes for your business too.

And even with an expensive SEO program, your company can still not be positioned professionally as it should be online because of the lack of control of what consumers are posting in their reviews or even what a disgruntled employee could post. I talked to one small business owner who had a disgruntled employee post a bad review and the problem wasn’t that it was a bad review, the problem was there were no other reviews, let alone positive reviews that would at least bury it.
